Chapter 198 Caught up
Chapter 198 Caught up
POV Lysandra
"The first-year students have already finished their first event. By the gods, we have to stay here for two months!" cursed a girl as invisible tears fell to the ground. In her mind, she wore beautiful braids in her turquoise hair and donned a wizard's robe.@@@@
"Tell me, don't you think it's unfair?" she exclaimed, turning her gaze towards Lysandra. The girl who was crying was Jeane, a commoner from the Primal class of the second year.
"Can you stop shouting? They'll hear us!" reprimanded a boy with a halberd in his hand, murmuring but in a raised tone. It was Daniel, Jeane's childhood friend.
"Besides, it's already been a week. We only have one more week left in this place. We need to kill more Titans if we want money for vacation after the event ends," added Daniel. Jeane looked at her friend with her eyes shining at the mention of "money."
"That's right! Well said, Daniel!" exclaimed Jeane excitedly. "Can you two shut up for once? Someone's trying to get out of this place," roared another girl while pointing her sword at her two friends. It was Aria, whose eyes only reflected the desire to kill slowly, her beautiful black hair tied up.
"If it weren't for you two trash, we wouldn't be trapped here!" exclaimed Aria, her white eyes shining with fury. "Calm down, Aria. We just have to wait one more week for the trap to deactivate," Lysandra tried to reassure her, looking at her other friend.
"How can you be so calm?! We're trapped, and we don't have enough food for a full week!" responded Aria with a grim tone, while her eyes settled on the two who were still arguing. "I'll kill them and then eat them," she muttered under her breath, with a determined expression on her face.
Lysandra smiled amusedly as she watched the group of three people surrounding her. They were all students from the Primal class, good-hearted and quite fun people. As far as she understood, all three of them were childhood friends. The difference between them lay in their backgrounds: Aria came from a noble background, while Jeane and Daniel were commoners from her household.
However, they all shared great talent, similar to Aria's.
"It's nothing, just felt like someone was cursing me or something," Anthony responded with a smile, trying to downplay the incident. Charlotte blushed and looked away, which made Anthony smile even more.
"You're not stupid, Charlotte. You should know why I want to go see your mother, right?" Anthony asked, adopting a more serious expression.
Charlotte looked at him seriously, her purple eyes shining as she observed him. "My sister once told me that the women of our house are strange and rare," Charlotte began after pondering for a few seconds. "My mother is the strangest of them all. You never know what she's thinking. When I was little, she was always present. She would tell me I was her little adorable daughter.
She was a great mother," she recalled fondly. "I remember one day she received a marriage proposal for me to marry someone from another noble house. Our mother owed them a favor, and they decided it was a good idea for me to marry their fat son," Charlotte continued, furrowing her brow. "From what I understood, he was stupid, weak, and liked to treat commoners like trash."
"My mother disappeared from the house for a few days, only to return later. Her smile was charming and full of love when she told me the problem was solved. After a few days, I found out that family had disappeared overnight, and no man she didn't approve of could take my hand," Charlotte concluded.
Charlotte looked at Anthony for a few seconds, searching for a sign of commitment in his gaze. "Tell me, are you willing to continue?" she asked seriously, assessing his determination.
Anthony smiled at her, aware of Charlotte's strong personality. In fact, it had been the emperor himself who had to ask for the hand of his eldest daughter for his heir, and he had heard that Charlotte's mother almost rejected the proposal. Her daughters were sacred to her, and no one could touch them without her permission.
It could be said she was very protective, but Anthony understood the reasons behind that behavior.
"There's no turning back now," Anthony replied, shrugging. Charlotte smiled sweetly. "Then we're in this together."
The two of them were mounted on a horse, with Charlotte in front and Anthony holding the reins. "By the way, I forgot to mention that my mother, my older sister, my daughter-in-law, and my brother-in-law will be present," Charlotte said with a smirk.
Anthony's smile froze.
