Reborn with Steve Stand

Chapter 839: T.V Interviews

Chapter 839: T.V Interviews

“This... The Ten-Tails?”

Seeing the Spawn Egg in Steve’s hand, Fang Mo couldn’t help being taken aback.

It wasn’t that he thought this thing was extremely powerful—maybe it was terrifying in the Shinobi world, but in the limitless universe of Minecraft mods, it didn’t even qualify to carry some monsters’ shoes.

After all, many of these monsters have been endowed with conceptual god–level traits:

Some have extremely high “divine” prestige

Some have absurdly overpowered stats

Many combine both, reaching T0 tier

They include (but aren’t limited to) entities like Zahhar, Loli, HIM, the Chaos Dragon, the Chaos Wither, unnamed eldritch gods, Witherzilla, and other crazy stuff. Maybe you could find ways to handle them in-game, but once they were “realized” in reality...it’s hard to even imagine how one could deal with them.

The real reason Fang Mo was startled upon seeing this Spawn Egg has more to do with a different point:

He had virtually never obtained any MC items related to “dungeon crossover” or “extra-world” content before.

He had briefly touched on this long ago.

As early as his time in Marvel, Fang Mo had vaguely realized that Minecraft mods are extremely diverse, including many fan-made ones based on popular movies, comics, etc.

Fans of various works would make mods inspired by those IPs they loved.

There were certainly mods for which Fang Mo was familiar—like the Iron Man mod with Mark armor, a superhero mod with Hulk gear, Superman suits, and so forth, plus others like the JoJo mod with Stone Masks, or the Naruto mod with shuriken, Flying Thunder God kunai, etc.

These were clearly “dungeon or franchise crossover” mods, each a kind of “secondary creation” derived from a certain IP or storyline.

From the very first time Fang Mo arrived in the Marvel world, he had tried unlocking such mods, yet the outcome was always the same: complete failure every time.

He even suspected that his “mod pool” didn’t contain that type of mod at all.

But this time was different.

By some inexplicable stroke of luck, Fang Mo had drawn the Ten-Tails.

“Could my mod library actually contain these kinds of crossover mods?” he mused, staring at the Spawn Egg. “Maybe I just haven’t found the trick to unlocking them?”@@@@

Given how little information he had, Fang Mo thought it over, then decided to consult his “loli partner.”

According to her, this Ten-Tails Spawn Egg wasn’t from the standard “Naruto mod” but rather from AHZNB’s Naruto ShinobiCraft. Of course, its content was similar, adding a bunch of Naruto elements to Minecraft.

Hearing this, an idea popped into Fang Mo’s mind.

If he eventually unlocked two identical “dungeon” or “crossover” mods, might that trigger some mod fusion?

That could be intriguing. Who knew what effect it would bring to Tinkers’ Construct? Would the Sharingan become a new “Tinkers’ forging material,” or an upgrade item for weaponry...? ꭆÂNô฿Ɛș

Sadly, Fang Mo hadn’t managed to fully unlock even one such “dungeon mod,” so such ideas were just pipe dreams for now.

He shook his head and had Steve put away the Ten-Tails Spawn Egg, then resumed opening Lucky Blocks.

But perhaps that Ten-Tails Egg had burned through all his good luck.

The next several draws all went sideways.

Fang Mo had Steve open six Lucky Blocks in a row, but each time the white light flashed, and his inventory gained (in sequence) a block of Thorn, a Gilded Spike Block, a blob of Mercury, a Millet Ingot, a Sunshine Uranium Ingot, and a Tinkers’ Crusher.

“What the hell is all this?”

Seeing these completely useless items, Fang Mo himself couldn’t hold back: “Damn it. People say ‘every day it’s the low-rollers suffering,’ and now I’ve joined their ranks...”

This batch of pulls was truly abysmal.

He already had Twilight Thorns (i.e., that’s a duplicate item).

As for the Gilded Spike Block, it’s just a block of pure gold spikes from the Extra Utilities 2 mod. Another worthless object, since Fang Mo already possessed creative-level spikes with damage on par with an infinite-tier weapon.

And the rest...Mercury is just a basic Thaumcraft material—common as dirt if you go exploring.

Sunshine Uranium Ingot, if Fang Mo recalled correctly, came from a high-tier solar-energy mod. He wasn’t super familiar with those tech mods, but remembered it was for making ultimate solar arrays. Possibly it had some minor synergy with Tinkers expansions, but the tool properties weren’t great.

Lastly, the Millet Ingot and the Tinkers’ Crusher were Tinkers add-ons. Millet Ingot–based tools could “lure creatures,” randomly spawning small animals around you, slightly useful but not by much. The Tinkers’ Crusher was a block that can destroy equipment—if you mis-click with your weapon, you have to start from scratch.

“...”

Staring at the junk in Steve’s hand, Fang Mo took a deep breath. He realized it just wasn’t his night for gacha.

Luckily, he had a decent stockpile of Lucky Blocks. Although he’d used up some, it wasn’t too big a deal. After taking a few calming breaths, he settled himself.

“Never mind—maybe I’ll do it properly next time. Burn some incense, bathe, and then head to Asgard.”

He briefly sorted his inventory, dismissed his “stand” Steve, and lay down, closing his eyes to rest.

Ever since Fang Mo had connected to the Dream Gate and found a way to bring along his partner, his mental state had improved a good bit. That also impacted his sleep. Lying down, letting go of his thoughts, he soon drifted off.

But Logan froze in his tracks the moment he heard that.

“I’ve changed my mind.”

Logan turned sharply and headed for the gate instead, eyeing Fang Mo warily. “You go tell Charles. I’ll greet them.”

“You don’t trust me?”

Fang Mo demanded.

“And what about you is trustworthy?”

Logan shot back without mercy.

“Tch...”

Fang Mo’s brow twitched. “Fine, I’ll tell Charles.”

Muttering a bellyful of complaints, Fang Mo slouched off toward the mansion under Logan’s watchful gaze. Once Fang Mo was out of sight, Logan let out a sigh of relief, straightened his clothes, and made for the gate.

After all, this was more than just changing mutants’ fate; it was the crucial moment to avert the dark future. He couldn’t let anything go wrong.

The process went smoothly.

The media had clearly gotten the memo from higher-ups. Both the reporters and the crew acted very polite, filming Xavier’s scenic estate and speaking warmly about it.

Soon, Charles—owner of the manor—came out to greet the reporters. To facilitate the interview, he ushered them into the library, where they set up their gear and got to work.

“Hello, sir. I’m Mary from New York Television.”

The blonde reporter quickly got into role, mic in hand. “We heard that Hank McCoy has been living here. He calls himself a ‘mutant.’ Yesterday, he saved over a hundred people at the Walmart Mall fire. Are you aware of what he did?”

“Yes, I am,”

Charles answered with a friendly smile. “I’m proud of him.”

“Many of us know little about mutants. As Hank’s friend, could you share a bit about them?”

the blonde asked.

“Mutants derive from what we call the X-gene,”

Charles explained. “In truth, every human being carries an X-gene, but in most people, it’s dormant. We mutants have certain factors—emotional or environmental—that cause our X-gene to activate...”

“You said ‘we’? Are you also...a mutant?”

She pretended to be surprised.

“Yes, I am.”

Charles nodded.

“Oh my goodness. I thought all mutants had blue skin.”

She feigned shock. “But you look completely normal.”

“It depends on how the X-gene develops,”

Charles explained, smiling. “In fact, most mutants look just like everyone else, such as myself. The same holds true for the majority of those who live here—they’re—”

He didn’t finish before the door slammed open.

“That’s right!”

With that exclamation, someone strode in from outside. “Mutants really aren’t much different from ordinary people, yet we face constant prejudice. Goddamn it... Society can be so disappointing. One day, all of you will become mutants!”

“What...?!”

That sudden roar startled everyone. They instinctively turned to the doorway.

They saw a man’s silhouette standing there.

“...Erik???”

Charles stared in bewilderment at the familiar face—then was quickly seized by alarm.

Yes, his old friend was an extremist. If he started spouting radical rhetoric in front of these cameras, it could ruin this precious moment of mutant-human harmony. Charles couldn’t let him cause trouble now.

Making up his mind swiftly, he noticed Erik wasn’t wearing his helmet. Charles raised his fingers to his temple, prepared to unleash his telepathy.

But the instant his consciousness touched the man, Charles’s face changed dramatically. Because what he sensed was an unfathomably vast ocean of mental energy—this person wasn’t Erik at all.

“Fang Mo!!!”

Charles sprang from the couch on reflex.
