Chapter 11 Destiny
Chapter 11 Destiny
When the divine light and shadow subtitles appeared before him, he noticed a golden arrow next to his name.
Almost instinctively, his mind touched the golden arrow.
The next moment, a feeling of ease spread throughout his body, and then he saw that the number next to the paladin marked under his name had changed.
However, the golden arrow did not disappear. Upon touching it again, the number changed once more, from 4 to 5.
At this point, the golden arrow had disappeared.
Is this considered a promotion?
The sound of chains breaking in my dream was not an illusion, but rather the tomb keeper using some means to sever some kind of shackles.
Liu Bei continued reading. After the two upgrades, his various stats had not changed much. Apart from a slight increase in strength, his other basic stats remained unchanged.
So what's the significance of this upgrade?
He was a little puzzled, but as he patiently looked on, he was surprised to find that a new line had been added to the section called "Specialty": "Dual-wielder".
For some reason, Liu Bei suddenly laughed, and he suddenly understood what this light and shadow was!
The content depicted in these lights and shadows is clearly a manifestation of Liu Bei's abilities!
Dual-wielder—doesn't that just describe someone who's good with two swords?
As you continue reading, in addition to some abilities that you already possess appearing under the name of "characteristics," there are also some "spells."
The former either already knew them or were newly learning them, but they hadn't manifested them before, while the latter seemed to have these "spells" forcibly inserted into their minds.
With just a thought, those spells became like combat techniques that he had studied for a long time.
This immense power sent chills down his spine!
He then realized that if the tomb keeper hadn't severed those invisible shackles, none of the new knowledge and skills he had learned in this world would have appeared here.
Although he didn't understand whether his presence on it would have any impact, he vaguely sensed that if the shackles were still there, then this "fate" would invisibly block his future!
What a wonderful "destiny"!
Through this "mandate of heaven," Liu Bei seemed to see a net covering the heads of all living beings, in which their fates were woven together.
But what does this mean for him now?
Did they escape that unknown giant net under the control of the gravedigger?
Or is it that only at this moment can one truly say that destiny has been bestowed upon them?
Liu Bei suddenly laughed heartily.
Suddenly, he realized how ridiculous he had been just moments before. What was he afraid of?
Hasn't the Liu family always been like this?
In times of chaos, there are always those who are blessed by Heaven. Our ancestor slew the white snake and started a rebellion to overthrow the tyrannical Qin Dynasty. Our Emperor was blessed by Heaven and continued the Han Dynasty. Why are we afraid now that it's our turn?
After figuring this out, Liu Bei became more open-minded. He wanted to see what kind of career this destiny had bestowed upon him was meant to accomplish!
Previously, the will of Heaven was obscure and unclear, but now that the mysterious tomb keeper has broken the shackles, he should be able to see the meaning contained in those messy characters.
He was eager to read on, and then...
That's it?
He stood there, completely bewildered. Where did the bottom go?
Is this what they mean by the unpredictability of fate?
Liu Bei mocked himself.
However, he was convinced of one thing: that Liu Bei's arrival here was ordained by Heaven, and that Heaven required him to accomplish a great feat here!
Doing good deeds without asking for reward.
As long as one sticks to one's own will, no amount of hardship or danger can stop him.
What does it matter if the will of Heaven is unclear?
He only needs to do what he thinks he should do. Right now, he also needs to resolve the crisis in the woodland and help the Tiftins find a peaceful place again!
"Liu Bei, what are you grinning about? I'm so hungry!" Ansel's question interrupted Liu Bei's thoughts.
He was dressed in pajamas, still sleepy-eyed, wearing a hat with the pointed top hanging limply to the side. The first thing he did after waking up was to ask Liu Bei for food, which had clearly become a habit!
"Wait a moment, I'll go get some food right away."
Last night's events made him forget that he still had a "mission" to complete. Although it is said that a gentleman should stay away from the kitchen, the chefs in Faerun were indeed not as good as those in the Han Dynasty, and Liu Bei was not used to eating this exotic food all the time. As the saying goes, "practice makes perfect," and Liu Bei became a "good cook" by cooking for himself, which is why he was entangled with Ansel.
"I want to eat barbecue!"
"No way! No barbecue for breakfast!"
"I want to eat! My dad never cared about me, you can't control me!" Ansel's sleepiness vanished completely when he heard that he couldn't eat barbecue.
Seeing Ansel's determined look, Liu Bei felt helpless.
Ansel's halfling height always made Liu Bei think the boy in front of him was an underage child. Ansel was indeed an adult, but having grown up in a wealthy family, he still had a childish air about him. So, on some small matters, Liu Bei could never refuse Ansel: "Alright, I'll go get some roasted meat!"
"Yay! Liu Bei, you're so kind!"
He really is just a child!
Seeing Ansel's overjoyed expression, Liu Bei couldn't help but smile wryly.
Just as he turned around to start a fire and roast the meat, he suddenly noticed that Anselby seemed to have changed a little from yesterday!
Just as he was about to ask a question, he suddenly noticed that there was another line of text in the light and shadow in front of him. While grilling the meat, he clicked on the new line of text and saw Ansel's information appear in it!

......
Why does this kid love playing with fire so much? Most of the spells he knows are related to fire!
Wait a minute, wasn't he complaining yesterday that he couldn't cast Fireball? How come he can do it after just one night's sleep?
Liu Bei immediately asked, "Ansel, last night...?"
Before he could finish speaking, Ansel started shouting, "Liu Bei, Liu Bei, I know fireball magic!"
"Wait a minute, something's not right. How did you learn this fireball spell?"
Ansel looked at him with a strange expression and slowly said, "Isn't that how warlocks are? They just need to sleep and they'll know how. I'm not a mage; I don't have to get up early and stay up late every day to read books and copy spells. Just thinking about it makes me tired!"
Liu Bei was speechless.
Is that correct?
Won't you get attacked by the mage for saying that?
While other mages draft theories of magic and construct spell models, you, on the other hand, wake up one day and know everything.
Are there really such big differences between people?
"That's just how warlocks are! Relax, relax." Ansel was already used to Liu Bei's incredulous expression: "I figured it would be in the next few days, too bad it's a little late, otherwise why bother with all that trouble yesterday? Just spam fireballs!"
Ansel said with a hint of regret, "How about we go and dig those rats out right now?"
"No way!" Liu Bei refused Ansel's request with a stern face. He took the roasted Eye Demon meat off the grill, cut it up, and placed it in front of Ansel: "This is the last bit left! Once it's gone, it's gone!"
"That's it? Oh well, if it's gone, it's gone! I'm getting a little tired of eating this stuff every day!"
As the two were having their meal, an uninvited guest arrived at their tent: "Excuse me, are you Liu Bei and Ansel from Waterdeep?"
Upon hearing this, Liu Bei looked outside and saw a one-eyed man wearing leather armor standing outside their makeshift camp.
"There's a smell of sulfur, there's a devil!" Ansel, who was still eating breakfast, twitched his nose and immediately put down his knife and fork. When he walked out of the temporary camp, a spark had already gathered in his hand.
After that spark appeared, the dampness in the cave was immediately dispelled, and even Liu Bei, whose perception was not very strong, could feel the magic in the air stirring.
"I'm sorry, I mean no harm! I am Will, the Borderblade of Baldur's Gate, not a demon!"
Will's face turned pale the moment he felt the magic. How could he not recognize what that spark in Ansel's hand was? The seemingly insignificant spark would become a huge fireball once it was released!
His small frame can't handle it!
"Huh? You say you're the Borderblade of Baldur's Gate? Then why do you smell like a demon?" Ansel clearly didn't believe it. "I think you're the demon who infiltrated!"
Will could only say helplessly, "I blame myself for being young and foolish back then and making a pact with the devil. But I have no regrets. Without the power bestowed upon me by the devil, how could I have protected Baldur's Gate?"
"Ansel, he's not an enemy!" Liu Bei recognized Will as one of the adventurers who had assisted them in the battle outside the camp earlier. "I'm sorry, my companion has caused you trouble. Sir, please come in and talk."
