Chapter 147 High Priest
He tried to simulate a gentle, orderly energy frequency similar to that when the base was activated using the reverberation unit, carefully touching that mark.
A blurry, severely distorted, but barely discernible image and stream of information flooded into my consciousness.
The scene depicts a vast, dark background shimmering with countless points of light.
Some of the dots were specially marked and enlarged, accompanied by symbols that Rowling could not understand and a constantly scrolling stream of data.
The images rapidly switch between scenes, sometimes showing a partial view of the starry sky, sometimes a macroscopic diagram of energy flow, and finally settling on a blurry, complex chart composed of multiple concentric circles and rays, with a constantly flashing red marker in the center.
The information flow contains some difficult-to-understand terminology and coordinate parameters, but a few words appear repeatedly. After fuzzy translation by the echo unit and comparison with Soria's notes, they roughly correspond to: "long-term observation point".
"Energy Tidal Anchoring"
"Seventh Sector"
"Abnormal fluctuation record".
The images and information lasted for less than three seconds before completely disappearing. The crystal also seemed to have exhausted its last bit of stored energy, and its internal structure dimmed slightly.
Luo Lin withdrew his hand, his heart churning with emotion.
This residual information seems to confirm that the observers were indeed conducting long-term stargazing and some kind of energy marking.
What does that red marker, along with the words "seventh sector" and "abnormal fluctuations," mean?
He whispered the discovery to Duden.
Researcher Duden's eyes widened, and he was so excited he almost shouted, forcibly lowering his voice: "Information residue! This is extremely important!"
"This directly proves their purpose! We need to decipher those coordinates and symbols! Unfortunately, the information is too incomplete—"
Rowling gave a rough description of the blurry images and words he had perceived, and Duden immediately took out his notebook, quickly wrote them down, and tried to compare them with some ancient star map fragments he had.
Their unusual behavior caught the attention of the Imperial apprentices nearby, but Rowling and Duden simply brushed it off by saying they had discovered a new energy reaction.
As evening approached and the work was about to end, the door of the appraisal institute was pushed open, and Commander Hector arrived again. This time, in addition to his guards, he was accompanied by an elderly native wearing a dark red priest's robe and whose soul fire in his eye sockets was pure white.
The old priest held a bone staff inlaid with red crystals. His aura was long and profound, giving people a sense of peace yet not to be ignored.
"This is High Priest Moradin, from the Royal Court's Temple of Fire, specializing in ancient rituals and the identification of sacred objects."
Hector explained, his tone more formal than yesterday.
High Priest Moradin nodded slightly, and the white soul fire swept calmly across the room, finally landing on the items on the stone platform, especially lingering for a moment on the metal base.
Hector told me about what happened yesterday.
Moradin spoke, his voice aged and calm, in fluent, universal language of the material world.
"The ability to awaken the light of dormant ancient artifacts, even for just a moment, is by no means ordinary."
"Young wizard from beyond the realms, may I witness your process of awakening it?"
His gaze fell on Rolin, calm yet inquisitive.
Duden and Gorson were both a little nervous.
Luo Lin, however, remained calm, stepped forward, and bowed, saying, "Respected High Priest, yesterday we were only fortunate enough to activate the remaining energy circuit."
"If we try again today, it will be difficult to reproduce the same effect; the residual energy has become even weaker."
O
Moradin nodded: "It's alright. I just want to feel the rhythm contained within that light."
Roland understood; the high priest wanted to personally perceive the nature of that ordered energy.
He hesitated for a moment, then said, "Yes, it's possible. But it requires that specific focusing crystal, and the duration will be shorter."
He gestured to Steward Barum to put the crystal and matching rune plate that had been used yesterday back on their original positions.
Then, just like yesterday, I pressed my left hand lightly on the top, activated the reverberation unit, simulated that gentle and orderly energy frequency, and slowly injected it.
A faint, milky-white light shone again, and parts of the rune plate and base glowed.
This time the light was dimmer than yesterday's and lasted even shorter, going out in just two seconds.
However, the moment the light appeared, the white soul fire of the High Priest Moradin suddenly shone brightly for a moment!
The red crystal at the tip of the bone staff in his hand also emitted a warm red light, which resonated with the milky white light for a very short time and a very weak vibration!
After the light faded, Moradin remained silent for a long time before slowly speaking, his voice carrying a barely perceptible fluctuation: "Order—pure light of order—without fanaticism, without prejudice, merely—observation and recording—this is similar to the description of the Silent Eye from beyond the heavens in the ancient scrolls of the Temple."
"The Silent Eye from Beyond the Heavens?" Hector frowned.
"A very ancient legend, mentioned only briefly in the most secret documents of the royal court." Moradin looked at Rolin.
"Legend has it that at the beginning of the world, there were silent observers from beyond the heavens. They did not participate in the conflicts, but only recorded the trajectory of the stars and the changes of the earth. Then they quietly left, leaving only scattered traces."
"Later generations called it the Silent Eye. I never imagined—it really existed."
He turned to Hector: "Commander, the significance of these artifacts may be greater than we realize."
"They may be related to the world's original memories."
"I suggest raising its protection level and considering limited knowledge sharing with these foreign scholars."
"They—seem to be closer to the language behind these relics than we are."
Hector's golden soul flame flickered, clearly indicating that he was weighing his options.
High Priest Moradin held a prestigious position within the empire, and his words carried immense weight.
Finally, Hector nodded: "I understand."
"I will seriously consider the High Priest's suggestion and report it to the Royal Court." He then looked at Rolin and Duden.
"Your work is very valuable."
"Tomorrow, we can discuss some more specific issues."
"Perhaps we can talk about the exploration of the Ash Plains."
This undoubtedly signals further cooperation.
It was already dark when I left the testing center.
On the way back to the stone house, Duden was so excited he almost danced with joy, but Gorson stopped him with a look.
"The High Priest's approval! This is crucial!" Duden said excitedly in a low voice after returning to the stone house.
"Luo Lin, that resonance you achieved was simply divine!"
Lorin, however, remained calm: "What the High Priest perceives is the inherent order of that energy itself, which has little to do with whether we truly understand the observer."
"However, this is indeed a good start."
"The important thing tomorrow is the discussion about the Ash Plains."
Gorson said in a deep voice, "The Empire's exploration of the Ash Plains has definitely begun. Their willingness to share intelligence means that they have either encountered difficulties or discovered something that they cannot handle on their own and want to use our help."
"Anything is possible."
Rowling pondered.
"We need to obtain the specific location and environmental information of the ruins from them, and we also need to be prepared to deal with possible risks."
