Chapter 393: The Beast People

Chapter 393: The Beast People

Nora looked ahead of her, and what she saw made her widen her eyes in both surprise and fear. After all, the stature in front of her had transformed into a dark void, as if to swallow her in.

As Nora sat before the statue of the Bear Mother, this revered deity of the Vandorian people, a sudden trance enveloped her, distancing her from the material world and immersing her in a realm of whispers and shadows.

The voices that encircled her spoke of lineage and destiny, their words weaving through the air with the weight of ancient knowledge. "She is of his blood! She is perfect," one voice declared, its tone ripe with certainty.

Yet, doubt laced the murmurs that followed, "But her heart belongs to her brother. He is evil, and dared to challenge us. I don’t like her. She will not work for our benefit." Amidst the cacophony of unseen speakers, a voice of authority emerged, "Blood of extreme good cancels out blood of extreme evil. It is a bind by the very Dao of heaven. Her heart is pure and therefore useful."

Another added, "It was her fate to die. But he changed it. She will be perfect."

These ethereal dialogues, swirling around Nora like a storm of unseen forces, threatened to overwhelm her sanity. However, as abruptly as they had commenced, the voices ceased, leaving Nora in a staggering silence.

What materialized before her then was a being of unimaginable majesty and awe—a colossal bear, its very presence an embodiment of the natural world. Its skin, textured like the rugged bark of ancient trees, stretched across muscles as vast as hills.

This creature, as immense as a mountain, dwarfed Nora, instilling a primal fear yet commanding a profound reverence.

The Bear Mother’s eyes, glowing with a golden light, pierced the void between them, illuminating the space with a warmth that felt like the first rays of dawn.

The air itself seemed to dance with particles of gold, an aura of sanctity that enveloped the bear. Atop its back, a giant golden wheel spun, reminiscent of a celestial clock, its movements erratic—now leaping forward, now winding back—as if controlling the very fabric of time itself.

Despite the terror that gripped her, a voice of unparalleled gentleness and strength resonated, enveloping Nora in a wave of tranquility. "No need to fear, my child. I mean you no harm." This voice, soothing yet powerful, reached Nora, calming her frayed nerves, and grounding her in the face of the divine manifestation before her.

"I am Divine. The one known as the bear mother."

The bear spoke up. "But this, I am sure you already know." subconsciously, even though she was still afraid, Nora nodded.

The bear continued to speak with its mouth and lips neither moving, but its female voice sounding both within and around her. "You must forgive this form of mine. I always opt for something the feeble human mind can easily handle. in my true form, your mind will melt, and you will become an empty meat shell."

Those words were said with calm, caution, and a display of unfathomable ability.

Again, Nora nodded, scared to say a word. "we don’t have much time, so I’ll just go straight to the point. You, my dear, are going to die..."@@@@

Those words came as a declaration, and indeed a surprise to Nora.

But the Bear mother continued, "This is an attempt by fate to mend your previously changed end. Like a wound, it continually attempts to heal itself. Nevertheless, I, on the other hand, have a task for you. It is a very simple one. But before that, remember this, love thy Hatred and Hate thy love."

In the eyes of many humans, they were only slightly more intelligent—walking and breathing MEAT.

They were humans that hunted them for food because of the similar properties that they had with Core beasts. Even the meat from their flesh gave the same benefits as core beast meat.

This also meant that their battle styles heavily depended on their nature, and the purity of their bloodlines and the affinity that it had with natural elements.

This did not mean that they used Elemental energy. After all, only the Elves, those that caused the Great War a thousand years ago were capable of using Elemental energy.

It was an affinity that they were naturally born with.

However, it was clear that the way that the beast kingdom used their spiritual energy was in tune with the elements. Some say it was their ability to trace the spiritual flow in nature itself and bend it to their will.

For several hundred years, they had lived in peace, and had only had to face the Kingdom of Vandoria as their enemy.

However, some ten years ago, the Beast country although united against the external world, was split into two within.

The reason for this was a disagreement between two factions.

Unlike the human kingdoms that are ruled by kings, and the even the highlands, ruled by tribal heads, the beast country, or Furries as they love to call themselves were actually ruled by council heads.

Their country’s economy was controlled and regulated by a governing body called the Senate of Elders.

In this standard of rule, the majority carried the vote.

At the time, a very ambitious man, a Wolf by beast origin had invested both time and resources to make a particular weapon of incredible capabilities. This man’s name was Hadi.

This weapon, however, was not acknowledged by the majority of the council. The reason was because it was a weapon used on their own people to bring forth the full blown power of the beast hiding within the individual.

When released, a person could easily produce power twice the capability of their core rank. But at the same time, the side effects were incredibly disastrous as one would become a beast after the event, losing their humanity totally.

The Furries never considered themselves to be beasts even though they shared a lot of similarities with them.

In fact, comparing them to the core beasts was considered an insult to their nature. This weapon on the other hand, sealed their Fates as one...
